If the owner does not reclaim a dog or other animal or poultry within the time provided in subsection (5), the pound keeper may forthwith sell or otherwise dispose of the dog or other animal or poultry; but an owner may reclaim a dog or other animal or poultry after the expiry of the time provided in subsection (5) if the animal has not been disposed of by the pound keeper.
