The driver of a vehicle emerging from a laneway, driveway or building shall stop the vehicle immediately before driving onto the sidewalk or the sidewalk area, or walkway or walkway area, and shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian on the sidewalk or sidewalk area, or walkway or walkway area.
