in a residential rental unit that consists of a single room;
- (b) within ten feet of the entrance to a bathroom;
- (c) within ten feet of a cooking area; or
- (d) within ten feet of a cooking appliance in a motel or hotel room; must be equipped with a pause, hush, silencer or false alarm control feature. 21(3) Where it is not possible or reasonable to achieve compliance with this section, a designated employee may approve an alternate location for an approved smoke alarm.
