City guide
Vancouver noise bylaw
Vancouver writes this as a bylaw. The same rule is also searched as by-law and as "by law".

This is a guide, not legal advice and not the bylaw. Bylaw Insider does not re-host bylaw text. Amounts, deadlines, and wording are on the ticket and on the city site. We last checked the official links on 15 October 2026.
The Noise Control By-law (No. 6555) is Vancouver's main noise text: construction hours, amplified sound, and the measurement rules the city actually uses. There is a permit path for events that need an exception. A standing weekly patio is not an event permit.
Call 311 with the address and the time if you believe the bylaw is being broken. If you run the site, keep the permit with the daily log. Security staff can ask for quiet; they cannot amend the bylaw.
The bylaw search is the text. This paragraph is the pointer.
