City guide
Calgary business licensing bylaw
Calgary writes this as a bylaw. The same rule is also searched as by-law and as "by law".

This is a guide, not legal advice and not the bylaw. Bylaw Insider does not re-host bylaw text. Amounts, deadlines, and wording are on the ticket and on the city site. We last checked the official links on 15 October 2026.
Calgary's business licensing bylaw and the city's licence catalogue say which trades file with the city and which documents come with the form. Alberta's security, investigation, and locksmith licensing is provincial. Towing and parking firms should expect questions from both, depending on the service.
The bylaws page and the business-licence service are the application path. Bylaw Insider does not file for you, and a phone number on this site is not a licence.
When a real listing is approved, the public page will still tell readers to confirm the number with the issuer.

Does every security firm need a city business licence?
Calgary licenses many businesses municipally, and Alberta licenses security separately. Look up both. A directory row is not a licence.
