Toronto noise by-law
Toronto writes this as a by-law. The same rule is also searched as bylaw and as "by law".

This is a guide, not legal advice and not the bylaw. Bylaw Insider does not re-host bylaw text. Amounts, deadlines, and wording are on the ticket and on the city site. We last checked the official links on 15 October 2026.
Toronto's noise rules sit in the municipal code (long published as Chapter 591). They distinguish amplified sound, construction, and animals, and they set hours rather than a single citywide decibel number you can quote from memory. The exemption process for events is on the city site as well. A festival permit is not a standing waiver for a bar.
Complaints go through 311. Officers do not attend every call the night it is made. If you operate a venue or a job site, the useful record is the permit, the hours, and a log of when the work stopped. If you are the neighbour, the useful record is the address, the time, and what you heard.
This page does not rank security companies that work noisy venues. Those listings, when they are real, will sit in the directory under event security and private security.

Common questions
Is construction noise a 311 call?
Yes, if you believe work is outside the hours the noise bylaw allows. The bylaw itself, in the municipal code, sets the hours. 311 is the intake, not the bylaw.
