Property standards in Toronto cover the condition of buildings and yards: heat, pests, structural safety, garbage, and long grass among them. The municipal code index points to the property standards chapter (long published as Chapter 629) and to related rules on waste and fences. The chapter is amended. Read the consolidated page, not a photocopy from a training binder.
A complaint usually starts at 311, by phone or the web form. The city decides whether to inspect. If an officer issues an order, it tells the owner what to fix and by when. Doing the work, or appealing within the time the order states, is the owner's problem to calendar. A contractor who "clears orders" is not a substitute for reading the order.
The directory lists a property-standards or pest-control firm only after a real submission is approved.

Toronto's property standards and related chapters are enforced by city staff. A resident starts at 311. An order, if one is issued, names the work and the date.
